Vendor talk: What to say (and what to never say)
Starting a convo with a new vendor can feel awkward—especially when you’re just getting into the game.
Here’s a quick cheat sheet on what to say (and what to avoid):
✅ Say this:
• “I’m comparing vendors right now and looking for consistent quality.”
• “Can you send photos of recent orders and lace close-ups?”
• “What are your turnaround times for custom units?”
🚫 Don’t say this:
• “I’m new, can you help me?” (You lose leverage instantly.)
• “I don’t know what I want.” (You’ll get lower-tier service.)
• “What’s the cheapest option?” (Quality drops fast.)
